Cool Fun on a Hot Summer Day

Summer is here. Waco & the Heart of Texas has plenty of cool things to do on a hot summer day. Have you tried stand up paddle boarding on the Brazos River? Bicycle Waco and Geared offer water craft rentals for fun on the river, including canoes, kayaks, and stand up paddle boards.

Have a splashing good time at Hawaiian Falls. This water park offers  the area’s first football field-sized wavepool, two, six-story slide complexes with a six-lane racer slide, tube slides, speed slides and a raft ride. Relax and float down the 800-foot lazy river as it winds through tall trees or challenge the kids on the floating obstacle course.

Prefer a more traditional swimming pool? Try the aquatic center at Amsler Park in McGregor or dive into the Playdium Pool in West. Both offer family fun in a small town atmosphere.

Splash parks can also  be found at several Waco parks, including Cameron Park, and at Brame Park in Bellmead.

Prefer to cool down from the inside out? Try some fresh homemade ice cream at Cafe Homestead, some tasty yogurt at 3 Spoons, or a float at the old time soda fountain inside the Dr Pepper Museum.
